Music Ministry

Opportunities to Serve in Music Ministry

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir is open to singers in High School and above. Experienced singers of younger ages may join this choir as well, at the director’s discretion. They primarily sing at the 9 am Mass, and at other Masses throughout the liturgical year. While the ability to read music is helpful, it is not required. Musical instruction will be given during rehearsals, and can be sought out in a one-on-one setting as well. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7 - 8:30 pm. Schola Cantorum

The Schola Cantorum is open to singers in High School and above who have an affinity for, or are interested in singing Gregorian Chant. They sing at the 9 am Mass once a month, and at other liturgies throughout the year. The majority of music learned is in Gregorian notation (square notes or neumes). The ability to read this notation is helpful but not required. Musical instruction will be given during rehearsals, and can be sought out in a one-on-one setting as well. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 6 - 6:45 pm. For more information, or to join the choir, contact the Director of Sacred Music.

 

Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir is open to all children in grades 1 - 8. This choir sings about once a month rotating between the 5 pm Saturday, 9 am Sunday, and 11 am Sunday Masses. Children will learn the basics of music and liturgy, as well as Catholic liturgical music such as hymnody, psalmody, chant, and sacred choral music. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 4 - 5 pm. Children’s Schola

The Children’s Schola is open to all children in grades 1 and above. This choir sings about once a month at the 9 am Mass as well as other liturgies throughout the year. Children will learn the basics of music and liturgy, with a focus on Gregorian chant as well as Latin hymns, psalms, and sacred choral music. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 pm. Psalm 150

Psalm 150 is a St. Mark praise band for high school and adult musicians. This groups plays at the Sunday 5 pm Mass, and other special events. Practices are Wednesdays from 5 - 6 pm. For more information, or to join the band, contact the Coordinator of Contemporary Music.

 

Cantors

Cantors proclaim the word through song, being primarily responsible for assisting with psalms and acclamations during Mass. Cantors must be able to read music and possess a clear and confident voice. An audition is required, and personal preparation is expected. Cantors are primarily needed for the 5 pm Saturday Mass and 11 am Sunday Mass. Mass in Honor of Pope John Paul II


We have added new music to our Mass settings. Listen to the YouTube videos to hear this modern, yet sacred music. They were all written by Robert Clark in 2014 and are reminiscent of a simple lullaby.
