Charlotte Division

World Apostolate of Fatima

Diocese of Charlotte

The World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF), also known as the Blue Army, is an active Diocesan Division serving the Diocese of Charlotte, dedicated to helping the faithful learn, live, and spread the message of Our Lady of Fatima in communion with the Church and in support of the New Evangelization.

Led by Kelly Fernandez, Diocesan Division Leader, and guided by a dedicated advisory team, Chris Fernandez, Michelle and Christian Suarez and Father John Putnam as chaplain, the apostolate seeks to foster a deeper devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Charlotte Diocesan Division promotes the Fatima message through prayer, formation, and outreach, including:

  • Fatima Prayer Cells – small, family-friendly prayer communities meeting regularly for the Rosary, fellowship, and formation
  • Pilgrim Virgin Statue Program – welcoming Our Lady of Fatima into homes to encourage family prayer and devotion
  • First Saturday Devotion Support – promoting the Five First Saturdays through Mass, Confession, Rosary, and meditation
  • Annual Marian Congress – diocesan-wide gathering for worship, formation, and family participation

The apostolate provides ongoing opportunities for spiritual growth through:

  • Regular prayer cell meetings
  • Diocesan communications and formation resources
  • Parish outreach and support for starting new parish chapters and prayer cells
  • Marian devotion

Rooted in prayer and guided by the maternal call of Our Lady of Fatima, the World Apostolate of Fatima in the Diocese of Charlotte seeks to sanctify families, renew parishes, and deepen Marian devotion throughout the region.

The Story of Fatima

At the height of World War I, Pope Benedict XV appealed to the Blessed Mother to intercede for peace. Just over a week later, Our Lady began appearing to three young shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal.

From May 13 – October 13, 1917, Our Lady appeared to Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto – three shepherd children tending sheep in the hills just outside their small village of Fatima, Portugal.

During the course of these appearances, Mary revealed her suffering heart and said that God wished to establish devotion to her Immaculate Heart.  She asked the children to pray the Rosary daily for world peace, and to offer their daily sufferings and sacrifices in reparation for sins and the conversion of sinners.

She also revealed a three-part secret, which included a terrifying vision of hell. She warned that a worse war lay in store for humanity and that Russia would spread her errors throughout the world, resulting in more wars and persecution of the Church, if people did not repent and cease offending God.

But Our Lady also gave a message of hope: Russia would be converted from her errors if the Holy Father would consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart and people would practice the Communions of Reparation on the First Saturdays. She promised an era of peace would be granted to the world.

At the final apparition, October 13, as promised, Our Lady performed a great miracle for “all to believe.” The unexplainable solar phenomena occurred before 70,000 people gathered at the Cova da Iria that day, and was witnessed from 25 miles away. Only twice in the world’s history has the exact date, time and location of a miracle been predicted:  At the Resurrection and at Our Lady of Fatima’s Miracle of the Sun.

Brown Scapular

Consecrate yourself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and wear the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel as a sign of your consecration.

A solemn Act of Consecration to The Immaculate Heart of Mary

Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to you all the people of our country and all the world. Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as you wish to accomplish your designs in the world.

O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary,

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully. We come with confidence to you, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home. Amen.

— Venerable Pope Pius XII

First Saturday Devotion

“Many people go to hell because there is no one to offer sacrifices for them.”

~Our Lady of Fatima

At the core of devotion to the Immaculate Heart is the First Saturday Devotion. As a sign of our devotion, and with the intention of making reparation for the offenses against the Immaculate Heart, Our Lady asks us to:

  1. Go to Confession (may be 8 days before or after, if you are in a state of grace)
  2. Receive Holy Communion (can be received at a Saturday evening anticipatory Mass)
  3. Pray 5 decades of the Rosary
  4. Keep Our Lady company for 15 minutes while meditating on one or more of the mysteries of the Rosary.

Prayers

Offer it up! – The Essential Daily Response to Fatima.

Daily offer the sacrifices demanded by the duties required of your state in life, as well as whatever hardships and difficulties God permits in your life, in reparation for sin and for the conversion of sinners.

Morning Offering

O my God, in union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary (here kiss your Brown scapular as a sign of your consecration – this carries a partial indulgence), I offer You the Precious Blood of Jesus from all the altars throughout the world, joining with it the offering of my every thought, word and action of this day.

O my Jesus, I desire today to gain every indulgence and merit I can, and I offer them together with myself, to Mary Immaculate, that she may best apply them to the interests of Your Most Sacred Heart. Precious Blood of Jesus, save us! Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us! Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Pardon Prayer

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.

Angel Prayer

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly. I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

Eucharistic Prayer

O most Holy Trinity, I adore You! My God, my God, I love You in the most Blessed Sacrament.

Sacrifice Prayer

O  Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Our Lady of Fatima Statue

We warmly encourage you to register to welcome the Our Lady of Fatima Statue into your home for a full week as a beautiful way to foster and strengthen family prayer.

Having Our Lady present in your home serves as a gentle invitation to pause, gather together, and grow in prayer as a family—especially through the daily Rosary. Along with the statue, your family will receive a rosary for each member of the household. For families with young children, a rosary board is also available upon request to help little ones follow along and actively participate; it will be sent to you during your scheduled week.

At this time, we are currently serving Charlotte and the surrounding areas. This is a meaningful opportunity to invite Our Lady of Fatima to join you in your home, encourage a deeper prayer life, and entrust your family to her maternal care.

Meditation Videos

This First Saturday meditation video is an invitation to slow down, enter into prayer, and draw closer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In the spirit of the First Saturday devotion, we take time to reflect, listen, and unite our hearts with Our Lady as she gently leads us to her Son, Jesus.

Through Scripture, guided reflection, and quiet moments of silence, this meditation helps us contemplate the mysteries of Christ’s life, offer reparation, and deepen our trust in God’s mercy. It is meant to be a peaceful companion before or after Mass, during Adoration, or in the quiet of your home, especially for families seeking to grow together in faith.

As we faithfully observe the First Saturdays, may this meditation strengthen our prayer life, foster conversion of heart, and remind us that even in stillness, God is powerfully at work. United with Mary, we offer our prayers for our families, the Church, and the healing of the world.

Thank you Father Goduti for making these meditation videos.
