Mission Statement: Stewardship is a way of life, a way of thanking God for all His blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent and treasure allotted to us. Stewardship addresses both individual parishioners as well as parishes themselves. St. Mark is establishing a Stewardship Commission to facilitate the giving of Time Talent and Treasure at the individual and parish levels.

Living Your Strengths – Be A Great Steward of Your Talent and Time!

Living Your Strengths is a process involving an online survey and the reading of the accompanying book that will help you to understand:

- Why you have unique, God-given talents

- How you can identify those talents and develop them

- How talents hold the key to discerning God’s call

- How this approach can strengthen parish life and promote ongoing spiritual renewal

What is Stewardship?

Christian stewardship is based on the spiritual principles of both the Old Testament and the teachings of Jesus. It is a way of life for a lifetime, a deeply personal and grateful expression of discipleship. Disciples who practice stewardship recognize God as the source of all they have and are and will be. They thank God for all his blessings by returning a portion of their time, talent and treasure. Yet it is based on their need to give thanks, not on the Church’s need to receive. Therefore, stewardship deepens our relationship with God.

1 Peter 4:10 says: “God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you.” In other words, a “gratitude attitude” prevails in your life so that you become a person of faith AND action. St. Augustine said, “Find out how much God has given you and from it take what you need; the remainder is needed by others.”

Giving of our time involves worship and prayer, sharing our love with family and friends, and volunteering our time in church and community activities that help others.

Sharing our talents arises from the fact that God has given each of us the ability and gifts to do certain things well and we are to develop those talents for the good of others.

Giving of our treasure is equally as important as time and talent. Since God is the ultimate giver of all the gifts we have, giving back of our treasure should be from the top – not from what may be left over.

Prayerfully consider making a covenant of stewardship as the first step of a life-changing experience for you and your family.
