Catholic School Students

Registration will open soon!

If you attend Catholic school please read below:

K-6th Grade

Participation in religious education is an integral part of St. Mark Catholic School students’ curriculum. During the 2nd Grade year, students who have completed 2 years of sacrament preparation are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion. St. Mark and the Diocese of Charlotte requirements for all Sacraments apply.

  • Parents who are parishioners of St. Mark Catholic Church shall register their child(ren) with the Department of Faith Formation, pay the sacrament fee, attend parent meetings, provide a copy of their child’s Baptismal certificate, and attend the First Holy Communion Retreat and rehearsal, and any additional requirements.
  • Parents who are not parishioners of St. Mark Catholic Church may request a letter from the Pastor of their Parish giving permission for their child to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion at St. Mark. All above requirements apply.

7th -8th Grade (Confirmation Prep)

Here students are “set forth” to use and apply their sacramental gifts, develop their personal relationship with God, and to discern God’s plan for them.

Preparation for the celebration of Confirmation will be two years. Spiritual readiness, not academic years, will determine a student’s preparedness to celebrate Confirmation. This will be determined by discernment meetings and participating in the Confirmation preparation process.  Rising 7th grade students will be in Year 1 and rising 8th grade students will be in Year 2 of the Confirmation process.

The journey towards Confirmation will be family and youth ministry centered, parish based, and school supported. The aim is to connect students and their families to the life of St. Mark Catholic Church, collaborate with St. Mark School, and enable parents and students to participate in youth ministry, faith, service, and liturgical activities at both the parish and school to assist the student’s spiritual formation during the Confirmation process.

Please find below a list of general Confirmation requirements for St. Mark Catholic School students. More specifics will be shared in future communications in preparation for the next school year.
